surgery

There are times when a patient may benefit from a surgical intervention.  Typically, a patient may be willing to undergo surgery if they have failed conservative treatment, including medications, physical therapy and/or spinal injections.  However, there are certain conditions for which conservative treatment will not help and surgery is actually indicated.  Conditions such as cervical myleopathy, cauda equina syndrome, or progressive weakness due to a pinched nerve will likely warrant a surgical intervention.  Even though Dr. Garala does not perform surgery himself, he works with excellent spine surgeons whom he can recommend.
